Randal Nardone as One of Fortress Investment Group’s Executive Officers

Randal Nardone, also known Randy by some, is one of the current Principals of the Fortress Investment Group along with Pete Briger and Wes Edens. As one of the key persons of the company, Randal Nardone handles a lot of important tasks. He co-founded Fortress in 1998 and was appointed as one of the board of directors in 2006. Nardone went to the University of Connecticut for his BA in English and Biology. He later took a JD at Boston University of Law.

Since 1998, Randal Nardone handled a lot of positions in the company, contributing in the best way he can for each task. Since 1998, he has been a member of the Management Committee. He became the Interim Chief Executive Officer from December 2011 to July 2013. He then secured the position in August 2013 when he was appointed as the official CEO. He is also listed as one of Forbes’ billionaires along with Mark Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett, and Bill Gates.

Before he co-founded and joined Fortress Investment Group, Randal Nardone gained experiences in other finance companies. He was the managing director of UBS a year before the foundation of Fortress. Before UBS, Nardone was one of the principals of BlackRock Financial Management. He was also a member of the Executive Committee at Thacher Proffitt & Wood.

Randal Nardone also holds a different kind of positions outside Fortress. One example is his position as a director for the Alea Group Holdings Ltd. Nardone is also a director in a lot of companies, including Brookdale Senior Living, Eurocastle Investment Limited and Springleaf Finance Corporation. With the acquisition of Fortress Investment Capital by SoftBank Group Corp., Nardone was retained as one of the leaders of the company. SoftBank acquired the company by $3.3 billion cash in 2017. Upon the transaction, Nardone committed to investing 50% of the after-tax proceeds to funds and vehicles managed by Fortress.

Fortress Investment Group is currently headquartered in New York and is one of the biggest management firms in the world that offers financial services. The firm manages alternative assets in private equity and hedge funds. It has two sub-organizations: New Fortress Energy and Brightline Trains.
