Ryan Kavanaugh created Triller as a video-sharing app, with which you can make videos and share them on social media. It also started the trend of using songs from movies, television shows, and books in their trillers.
People post videos ranging from funny to serious content that is high quality because the audience likes to watch high-quality videos that look nice for a full viewing experience. The people who make these posts are called Trillers, and it’s where the platform’s name comes from – “triller.” People create prank trillers, reaction trillers, dance trillers, trillers for sports, trillers about TV shows and movies, trillers about music, etc.
The company also allows users to transfer their videos from Instagram or other social media platforms onto the Triller app. This includes transferring followers over to see your posts in their feeds when they download and sign up for the app. It was created in May 2015 by Ryan Kavanaugh.
In September 2016, Greenlight Essentials partnered with Triller to provide a sponsorship service that matches brands with content creators. Since then, YouTube influencers have worked with Gap Inc., Pandora Jewelry, Target Corporation, and Puma on advertising campaigns across different social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat.
In a 2016 interview, CEO Ryan Kavanaugh stated that his goal is to have 10 billion or more videos created on Triller by 2025. In January 2018, the app was downloaded one million times in the Apple Store and described as a “promising newcomer” with a large variety of users.
As of November 25th, 2018, Triller had over 200 million downloads across all platforms and was ranked in the top 5 social media apps with over 100 million installs. It was also included in the Google Play Best Apps for 2017 list and voted Top App of May 2015 by Apple’s App Store in Canada.
